VT-VINO-SONOMA700LForget about the Rosé of the past. Look now for the dry versions, very light and good value.  They are wines are perhaps the most versatile, food-friendly wines around. Chilled they make an excellent dry summer drink.
Don’t confuse Rose with white Zinfandel.  White Zin is made from the Zinfandel grape and tends to be sweeter than a Rosé.  A Rosécan be made from any red grape. The distinguishing characteristic of the Rosé is the short exposure to the red skins.  So, a Zinfandel could be used to make a Rosé; a Rosé is almost never made from a Zin.
If you want the best of the best how about a wine tour of France with a visit to Côtes de Provence, the region known worldwide as the leader in premium rosé. One of my favorites among the area’s spectacular wines is the Château de Pourcieux Rosé.

Half a case may sound like a lot of wine, but summer still has a long way to go. This is a wine you’ll need six bottles of, if not two or more cases. At under $15 per bottle, you can’t afford not to stock up.

Trader Joe’s offers a number of Rosés. We think that they are pretty good and very reasonably priced. Everyone’s carrying the dry Rosé’s now.  Be patient if you can’t find it.
Be sure to keep your wine cool and comfortable for the summer.  Store it in a customized wooden wine cabinet designed just for you.
